Overview of the Halle, Bielefeld Area

Facility Expansion

Halle/Westfalen is a small town with approx. 20,000 citizens. It is favorably located in the region East-Westphalia-Lippe (Ostwestfalen-Lippe, abbreviation OWL) in the centre of Germany. It belongs to the state Northrhine-Westphalia (Nordrhein-Westfalen, NRW). The region provides an attractive landscape with the Teutoburg Forest and the river landscapes of Weser, Ems and Lippe. The nearest major city in the region is Bielefeld. Approx. 320,000 people live in Bielefeld and it combines the advantages of a city with plenty of leisure opportunities in the Teutoburg Forest.

An excellent traffic network, a variety of restaurants and pubs, and a broad choice of accommodations make this university town an attractive place to stay. Major sights, restaurants, bars and shops are within walking distance in and around the city centre. We suggest that you walk around or use the public transportation system to discover Bielefeld.

If you prefer to stay closer to the facility in Halle, you can enjoy this small town with its historic city center. It is ideal for hiking, playing golf or tennis. In June, you may be lucky and meet one of the tennis pros playing at the only German ATP grass tennis tournament which takes place at the Gerry Weber Stadium in Halle.

Local Transportation

If you choose to take the train from the airport and need to get from your hotel to the facility, it is most convenient to take a taxi. You can order a taxi by phone, request a taxi at the front desk of your hotel, or just hail a taxi on the street. Available taxis have a lighted taxi sign on the roof. Alternatively, you can also use the regional train from Bielefeld main station to Halle/ Ku╠łnsebeck station.
